Are you absolutely sure you have this problem and that it's not a similar
looking symptom caused by spyware?

Thanks.

If MS determines that you do actually need the Hotfix they do not charge for
the call. First make sure that the machine is completely up to date and
that you are not infested with malware.

By installing XPsp2 (or making sure that you have the latest RTMQFE
version of mshtml.dll)

What version of mshtml.dll do you have?

Via a Security Bulletin Search
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx
we find

<title>Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-054: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (905915)</title>

which shows that even if you only have XPsp1 you could still get
version 6.0.2800.1529 from it (which exceeds the version 6.0.2800.1449
you supposedly would be getting from the hotfix you're citing.)

Note that if you have 6.0.2800.1528 from the same update
you would only have the RTMGDR version which would not have
any integrated hotfixes (as mentioned further by the bulletin),
and therefore probably not the modification that you are
looking for.
