Kazaa and quarantine folder

Hi,

I was getting Kazaa as part of my daily spyware report
and the threat was marked as moderate. I took no action
on the item and left the threat marked as ignore for a
couple of days. At this point everything was good.

Yesterday, I decided that Kazaa may be the reason why
some spyware viruses were coming back so I decided to
quarantine the item. Anti-Spyware created a quarantine
folder with the files that I had downloaded from the
internet ( i.e. /program files/kazaa/my folder ). They
were mostly short clips and music.

When I found out that the quarantine had renamed and
moved these files, I used the un-quarantine option. I saw
the folder restored. However, for some reason that folder
was deleted permanently from my system later that day. So
I no longer have Kazaa nor my personnal files folder.

I tried to look at the reports, but they do not mention
any action taken on the restored files.

I have a trial version of Norton Anti-Virus on my system.
No log shows that those files were deleted in the NAV
logs either.

I am not saying that I should be using Kazaa, but I am
suspecting there are many users out there that will mix
the 2 products and get frustrating results as well.

Godefroy--thanks for reporting this. Others have reported similar losses,
as well. (And some of them, or their children, are hopping mad, I'm
afraid!)

I think there's a bug here, and your report is helpful in eliminating it
from the released product.

I had the same bloody problem only I lost about 500 megs
of music. I did exactly the same procedure as you. I just
posted it "Spyware removed Kazaa music".

Really really pissed off.

If it's a problem,
Why are you still letting people download the Beta
version knowing full well that the majority will have
kazza, and the majority will go through the same
procedure as the bug???

You attitude seems like "Balls to people trying it, as
long as we get rid of all the bugs". Why stop supplying
it now if more people can run into problems to help you
release the final one?

The Kazaa one isn't a bug, it's a complete cock-up and
you should stop supplying the Beta version straight aware.
