What a joy..I have eventually managed to get N*rton 360 of my laptop and been able to install Kaspersky.
I now have a really responsive laptop..Could N*rton 360 really have slowed it up that much..?
There are a few features that I did lik about it, that don't seem to be on Kaspersky r maybe I haven't found them yet.
But top marks, Kaspersky went into overdrive as soon as it was fully installed and picked up loads of things N*rton didn't...

Glad you like it :D

Out of interest, what sort of thinks are missing on Kaspersky that Norton 360 had? :)

A million pop-ups

Believe it or not the only "Pop ups" I got were to tell me 360 was busy in the background..
The one thing 360 did have was the back up facility, which I quite liked, had it set to back up weekly to an external Hdd, but like I said I probably haven't found this yet on Kaspersky, and the other thing was which I can't remeber wht the tab said now, but basically gave yer machine a tune up every so often, wether it ran a full defrag, I am not 100% sure, but the laptop seemed a lot better after this had been done..

I have first hand experience of Nortons AV and let me state, quite categorically and without remorse that the whole thing is a big stinking pile of do-do :)

It doesn't deliver. The only thing Nortons has going for it is lots of user friendly messages which lull the user into thinking they're protected because Nortons says so.

AV for beginners, basically.

I have seen Nortons cripple formerly responsive systems, literally.

At one time, Nortons led the field but around 2002/2003 they lost the plot.

For anybody familiar and perhaps keen on Overclocking if you want to see the other side of the coin install Nortons AV and experience underclocking.

Since installing K this afternoon I am going to agree, and cripple my system it did for sure

I don't think those features come with Kaspersky, but if you use Vista you have both those features built in anyway :thumb: (Defrag is automatic, but you'd need to set up the backup feature).

I gave up on Vista and went back to XP, couldn't be ars*d with error messages every 5 minutes..Ah well, will just have put sticky notes everywhere to remember to do back ups..

Yup... NAV/NIS used to be great.

But as time went on it began a huge resource eater.

Hopefully the next version will have improved dramatically.
I read somewhere that they have relised this as a downfall and have taken a leaf from Server 2008, being that the new version being built is core modules designed for low resource usage.

But yeah.... luving my KIS.

Cool glad you like it, you will get use to it over time and once you have found out all the settings. It runs pretty much out of the box. :)

I just like the fact that when I power up it takes about 3 minutes and i'm on the net, in the past with N*rton 360 it could take upto 8 minutes before I could do anything..And the machine is so respinsive now..Best move I have ever made..Have had a play around with settings and all seems ok now..I'm sure with time I'll fine tune it and not even notice it is there..Two things I have noticed though, it keeps putting Spybot and Superanti at high risk, maybe some more fine tuning is needed....

Madxgraphics,

How are you finding Kaspersky now? It takes a bit of getting use to but once you do its a good program.

Wiz

     Does that answer you r question..I think it is the best move I have ever made..Our IT department at work have also made the switch from Mcafee that they have been using for years.and they are impressed..Getting the odd friend to make the change over aswell...Also after reading a post where Grogan was mentioned, I did a little research into him, ans stripping OS's back..Have been using XPlite on one of my machines..What a diffenrence it makes not only in the running of the machine, but also by removing certain parts of the OS, I am getting loads less threats...

Like I said Kaspersky is the best move ever yet..

It has also changed me in my lazyness to..In the past with Norton 360, I just took it for granted that 360 was doing weekly back ups as I had set them up..How wrong I was..Half the time it never backed up..Now with Kaspersky I am having to do them my self, thus they are getting done properly

I've had KIS 2009 on my system for about a week now (free download for Barclays online customers :thumb: ) . Very pleased with it. It seems to cover just about EVERYTHING.

Wish I had known that before I closed my Barclays account...
