I am using Kaspersky AV Personal edition. It is just running in the
background but every now and then it makes a popping sound, but it doesn't
come with any on screen alerts. Can anyone tell me what that sound it.

The only time I hear my KAV make that popping sound is if I manually check
a file or files and they come up as clean. If there is an infected file I
hear a pig squeel and I almost shit my pants.Kaspersky is the best though!

Flatulence?
 
Just turn off the sound feature and you won't hear it. It's in the
Misc Settings (or Other Settings... I forget which)... you have the
choice of turning off the sounds that Kasper makes.

It can come from KAV when it completes a scheduled scan and has not
found any viruses. Mine does pop then.

It comes when updating virus database.
 
Maybe it is automatic update. I can't remember.

The "plop" sound is definitely after updates had been downloaded and
installed. So no need to worry :-)
