Kaspersky Services vanished...?

Howdy,

I run Kaspersky Administrator Kit on a Win 2000 system, and
from there manage our six systems.

I had to revert to the default Registry hive (don't ask <g>)
and when I had the system up and running again, found that
KAV would not launch.

I looked at the Services, and found that the KAV components
were gone...

Is there a way to "repair" this installation? That is, might
I tell KAV Admin Kit "Re-install the Services, but leave
everything else as it is"?

Thanks for any help on this (Hey, it would happen on a
Saturday...!)

I would simply use the kasperksy removal utils. They have specific
tools to remove kaspersky and kaspersky reg entries from your system
thus providing you with the ability to do a clean install.

Hi Ian,

Your suggestion may prove to be correct, but...

It took me quite a while (with the excellent help of Mike
Magie of Ice Systems) to install everything and get it up
and running.

I am trying to avoid going through all that again.

I strongly suspect that all of the installation is in place
but for the services and that was the reason that I wanted
to try to re-install the services only.

Sincere thanks for any further thoughts,

Thanks for your kind words. Your situation is at the cross roads. You
can either piss about and try to figure out why the services arent
running or use an approved tool to remove *all* entries and perform a
full install.

Hi Ian,

As it turns out, there was a (very convenient) third
option...

I did not remove anything, but I did re-install the Admin
Kit (latest version BTW), and the local system's KAV.

My assumption was that all the setting would be lost, but
that turned out not to be the case.

All systems are now running KAV properly.

All the best, and thanks again,
