Why would I buy an anti-virus program from a pirate? That does not
make sense to me, though maybe I'm missing something. As it is, 20%
to 40% of pirated software have viruses on them, and my fear is that
the virus is not "piggybacked" in the distribution package, but
actually "built in" to the antivirus program, which would disable the
AV program.

It makes sense, it's an ideal place to hide a trojan since you know your
victim doesn't have AV.
