Does anyone know when this excellent on-line scanner will return? There site
says 'coming soon' for the last 6 months!

Thanks,

Oreally

Did this online scanner EVER exist before? If not, how can it be an
excellent online scanner? Excellence has to be proven. In the
meantime:

Since an "online" scanner still requires a local client (executable or
AX component) be downloaded and ran on your host, just go get a
full-blown good free anti-virus program rather than a miniscule client
that only scans and fixes nothing.

I understand...but you are not. This program has worked for years
identifying obscure viruses that I can then delete manually. I don't need a
realtime system clogger.

It was at one time a working online scanner and then it was removed. Since then all
that is showing when you want to access it that "Coming Soon"

You can see it at the following link

So the online scanner (that shoves a client onto your host to do the
scanning) did exist before. Lots of guesses as to why they removed
access to it, like it wasn't considered effective (lack of coverage)
since only signatures might get used and perhaps some heuristics by
checking registry settings but no behavioral monitoring. Just a guess.
Another would be that they lost interest or don't have the manpower
anymore. Another guess would be they want to include the "cloud" in
their detection; i.e., they want to incorporate user community voting.
Seems to the be hip thing these days.

Only Kaspersky would know for sure (maybe if you can ever contact the
right person rather than somewhere that the chain of communications
breaks down before reaching someone that knows). I'd start here:

They might respond. It could happen. All they say is that it is being
updated and improved and to use their 30-day free trial version in the
meantime. See:
