I recently purchased an Asus K8V SE mb. Setting it up with an IDE
drive worked well. Adding a SATA drive with a fresh installation of
Windows XP Pro hasn't worked well, at least not with the drivers
provided with the Asus mb.

Does anyone have a link or a web address that can guide me through the
installation of Windows XP on a SATA drive, step-by-step.

Sure would appreciate it.

There is a README file in this Via download. It explains what to do.

* Insert floppy disk.

I don't have the board, and I hope I've downloaded the correct package.

Paul

Your instructions were great. I created a floppy disk and went right
into Windows XP as usual. Installation was very fast. SATA and IDE
work well together. SATA is my boot drive and its running very fast
when used on a K8V SE with a 3700+ cpu.

Can't THANK you enough!
