Hi!

I got an Asus K8N and do have two problems:

1) the CPU Fan does not run, BIOS claims CPU Fan Error.
2) I have 2 IDE hard drives attached to one cable, only the first one is
recognized. There are no problem when I simply plug this cable to my old
board.

Can somebody help?

I have a K8NE-Deluxe and have the same fan error. I turned off the
BIOS setting for the quiet fan function and the fan ran full speed and
there is no fan error anymore. Quite annoying since I want a quiet
system. I haven't done anymore experimenting since I'm fightin a NIC
error and may return the board.

Maybe get latest Bios (they are at 1006 now with a Beta 1007) and
there is also a newer Cool & Quiet program as well. Give those a
try and also set ur Bios back to "default" settings if there is
anything u may have changed that could be messing things up.

There is a manual fan program that made my fans go haywire on this
board when accidentally enabled it alongside of Cool & Quiet ,
maybe it got turned on in Bios by accident?

Do you have Cool N' Quiet enabled? If you do the fan will not turn on until
the CPU reaches a certain temperature. Unfortunately the board doesn't
seemed to notice that. It's just letting you know the fan isn't on. It
will turn on when the temperature rises. I personally just disabled the
need to hit the f1 key to continue and everything is fine.

Everyone should be aware that with a USB keyboard, the function keys do
not work in Setup! The USB keyboard emulation does not work on all
keys the way it should. F10 does not save and exit, F1 does not
continue after error.

I had to let my board sit at the F1 prompt and heat up, then I could
3-finger it and go into setup to disable the pause for F1 on error.
Sheesh.
