K8D and mixing memory speeds

Hi there all

My mobo is a dual CPU machine (not dual core)
I presently only have 1 x 1GB DDR PC2700 on CPU_0 in slot #2
and 1 x 1GB DDR PC2700 on CPU_1 in slot #6

I want to upgrade to dual channel mode
I have a pair of Opteron 248
XP x64

The cheapest solution would be to put both the PC2700 1GB sticks at
CPU_0
and (here is my question) put 2 x 512MB PC3200 on CPU_1

Can the board run with CPU_0 running at PC2700 speed and CPU_1 running
at PC3200 speed?

The two memory controllers are independent so putting both PC 2700 on one
and putting two different speed DIMMs on the other will work fine. BTW I'd
put a pair of 1G DIMMs on the second CPU also, two 512 DIMMs is a little
light.
