Hi

When printing black text a faint blue line
Like a shadow effect

Using HP cartridges

Any ideas

John

I don;t know this particular printer, so I'll run through possible
reasons for this defect:

Some black inks are made up of a mixture of inks which sometimes, with
certain papers tend to migrate out and leave a colored fringe, but this
would probably appear all the way around the text of lines on all sides.

Some printers use both black and colored inks together to make a darker
black. If the heads haven't been properly aligned tis ghosting may
occur, usually to just one side of the text or lines. Try a head alignment.

Some printers do not have a black cartridge and use the three colors to
make black, which may look a bit muddy and have a fringe of color, check
the specs on you printer to see if it uses a black cartridge or uses a
CMY cartridge mixing all three colors to make a pseudo- or process
black. Again, head alignment may help, if your printer offers that ability.

It could also be a slightly clogged set of nozzles, or an electronic
failure, but less likely.
