Sounds, very much, like a bad card. I got the exact same corruption, that
you describe, when I overclocked my PowerColor 9700 too far. Take it back.

I bought last saturday a
videocolor 9700 radeon all in wonder
to work with my k7s5a / Athlon 1Ghz / 256 Mo Sdram 133 computer.
Power supply : enermax 300 Watt.

At the combuter boot (before Windows 2k loads),
the display is corrupted,
as if the ASCII codes of some characters are not the goods.
Under windows 2k : a lot of horizontal lines are missing,
replaced with other lines full of random colors.

I tried to upgrade the bios of the motherboard,
I failed, the k7s5a was to be thrown.
I had to buy an other Mobo this morning,
but a more recent one.

But with my new k7s5A 'pro', it's the same : bad ascii characters and
bad colored lines.

I can read in alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.elitegroup
and in alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati that
the k7s5A and the Ati 9700 are compliant.
They work well together.

After two tests on two differents motherboards,
am I supposed to bring the ati 9700 AIW back to the store
because the card I bought is defective?
Or did I forget something to make it work?
