I have XP and use K-Meleon. I can't seem to find a switch that allows
me to
open new links in the same window. I don't know if it's a "feature" of
XP or if I had some choice during installation of K-meleon.
I just get tired of seeing multiple windows stacked up in my tray.
I want the option of opening links in new window.
Any wisdom on this?
thanks

To open the link in a new tab in the same window, just right-click on the
link, and select "Open in New Layer" from the menu.

Thanks a lot,
I appreciate the help.
Do you know a way to open my favorites that are in the "tool bar" at
the top of
my browser? I try to open those and also the ones in my "drop down"
list and they all open in another window.

Try adding
user_pref("kmeleon.plugins.layers.catch", true);
to the prefs.js file in your K-meleon
directory\Profiles\Yourname\******.slt directory, then
restart K-Meleon (and the loader if you use it ). This
makes anything that opens a new windows use a layer
instead. If you need more help about K-Meleon, you might
want to visit the forum (
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/ ) there are some very
helpful people there.

It works, but gives the browser the focus, and changes it from
maximized to the cascaded size. Do you know a fix for those two
ramifications?

Hmm...no, I haven't had those problems, so I can't help
you, but try the K-Meleon forum, the people there are very
willing to help, and give good advice.

Well, Thanks anyway.
I like some others find the web based forums aren't for me.
Newsgroups for the different Gecko based browsers would be nice.

Unfortunately, sourceforge offers no usenet interface to its web-based
forums or mailing lists, and the K-M developers like them. Netscape
hosts newsgroups for Firebird, Navigator and Seamonkey, but none
individually for K-Meleon, Galeon, Chimera etc. http://www.gmane.org is
handy for reading mailing lists as newsgroups, but the "K-Meleon
General" forum isn't a mailing list.

There are three good starting pages to access the K-Meleon support
information at SourceForge:
1) the ever-popular http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/start/ ;
2) http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/ ("documentation" and "forum"); and
3) http://sourceforge.net/projects/kmeleon/ ("lists" and "docs").

I've learned as much from outside web pages and the docs for previous
versions as I have from the current docs. See also
