New Dell Precision workstation (dual xeon) IEEE 1394 Firewire port
built-in off Creative Labs Audigy 2 soundcard. When connecting the
JVC cam to the system, I am unable to capture video at all, the camera
is not listed as a device in the included JVC capture software. The
system repeatedly asks for AV/C drivers, and I cannot find them
anywhere on any of the cd's that shipped with the camera.

Have tried checking the file names for wrong extensions but this is
not an issue as far as I can tell (checked in the system 32
directory).

Have seen numerous posts on this dating back to 2001... anyone have
the definitive answer?

Thanks.

To capture HD MPEG using the HD Capture Utility, you must
configure the camera as a storage device (JVC DVCR). It
sounds crazy, but it is true. Then the HD Capture utility
will see it. Do not configure it as a camcorder.

I had a similar problem until I contacted JVC. It turned out I dc
"sound, videos, etc" under harware manager. As soon as I single clicked
the software recognized my JVC JY-hd10.
