I my self have cherished the protection that I became comfortable in trusting
to protect my pc world. But now it has been shut down by a deadline date, I
just loved the fact that I could take comfort in knowing that things were
o.k. by using the tools section and the advanced tools section by keeping a
close (adj.) eye on things that everything for the time being that will be
somwhat secure. I would have been much more happier if Microsoft had waited
untill Internet Explorer7 (not the beta) the one with the same tools as
Spyware beta1 like it is claimed here in this newsgroup by some people. I
would like to know your thoughts on this subject, speak your mind tell
microsoft how you feel by replying to this subject. Thank you for reading
this and have a great day. I am looking forward to your reply.

Hi DB

I take it you are talking about MS Antispyware beta1? Why not give WD a go?
For me it has so far performed quite well in dealing with the very nasty
things lurking on the Internet. Yes, there are some UI changes I would like
to see - most of which have been suggested in these groups at some time or
other. BTW I would add that I have (on occasion), intentionally infected this
com in order to assess WD performance. For me, it has done a pretty good job.
Cookies are something else - which brings me to IE7. I have been running
Beta2 Preview thru to 3 and properly configured is also doing a great job for
me. While I understand some people have a natural aversion to Beta sofware, I
would suggest both WD and IE7 are pretty stable in their present Betas -
however, that is just my humble opinion.

Maybe its time to take the step;)

Hi Stu,
Perhaps I will I had intended on making the transfer I guess it is time.
Maybe you might be kind enough to post some of the things to watch out for in
the configuring portion of it. I read somewhere in this discussion that there
were some items that had been deleted without warning do to some track
erasing I don't know because I have not used it yet but I guess I will be
soon. Oh one other thing I believe that the spyware beta1 still works it's
just that there are nomore dat files to update. I had a popup warning and a
block warning just this morning. Well Ciao For Now!

The biggest thing to make sure you do is to go out to windows update and
download all available updates (in fact..today will be a good day since it
is patch Tuesday). After you have successfully downloaded and installed
updates, then I would go ahead and install WD. The reason I recommend this
is so you will have the latest installers and be able to download Defender
engine and definitions from WU.

Hi DB

I think Steve Dodson has already given you the best advice on how to prepare
your system for WD. If you decide to install IE7 Beta3 the installer will
automatically download and install any updates it considers necessary as part
of the install process. If you don`t like it or it gives you a problem, you
can roll back to IE6.

Good luck

Stu

Hi Stu,
I read that the rollback if indeed needed to be performed might delete
necessary files to do the rollback. This is a reading I took from this
newsgroup, would you know of such a bug so that I may avoid it happening to
myself.

Don't worry. Be happy.

Defender may be a little rough around the edges, but I can see a bright
future. I have just begun experimenting with IE7 (under Vista). Both are
feature rich and eloquent.

As far as beta releases go, I'll take a public beta from Microsoft over any
other pissant software publisher any day of the week. Millions of testers
trump hundreds every single time!

Actually, Microsoft alpha releases are likely to be more stable than some
publisher's final production releases for that very reason.
