XP Home - all patches, checked KB, replaced hardware -
same problem. Windows sees the DVD drive - from a system
standpoint, all is fine. Can even eject DVD through
Windows, but Explorer, and of course, native DVD player
(codec Intervideo XPack is loaded and working)and Windows
Media Player 9 won't recognize when media is loaded -
therefore, won't play it. HELP - I've gotta have the DVD
back to Blockbuster on Saturday!!!

It's probably objecting to your chioce of DVD!

Late post:::::DVD movies will not play in WMP. One must purchase a copy
of DVD software. ie WINDVD, POWERDVD or something similar.

Not quite true. All you need is a DVD decoder which is available from MS
for $19.95. Also, if you have any other DVD player installed, WMP will play
DVDs using the other player's decoder.

Isn't that what Frank just said? Use DVD software AND their supplied codec!
PowerDVD works fine. Allows WMP to work fine also!
