I am a beginner and am trying to take over my website. I got everytihng
installed and inported the site as I didn't have it on my hard drive. But
when I have the local and remote sites side by side, they are all conflicted.
i am not usre what to do next but I don't want to ruin my site.

Old site was created with an older version of Frontpage, mine 2003 and am
running XP and Office 2000.

If the remote site has FrontPage extensions, open the remote site in
FrontPage and http:// Publish it to your PC. Importing will not
download any navigation and theme information the site may contain,
and also leaves any files that cannot be linked to from the Home page.
Importing will also give the resemblance of the web sites being out of
sybnch. with each other - hence the conflicting files.

If there are no extensions on the remote site, then use an FTP
application to download the site to your PC. Open the web on your PC
and Publish all pages to bring the sites back into synch.

If you believe that the Import has downloaded everything - you do not
use themes, shared borders, include files, FP navigation, databases
etc. - then publish All pages back to the server to get the sites back
into synch.

I got the site to load, but the publish button are not active, nor do i get
the remote site/local site button at the bottom

Also, that was when I simply opened it. When I tried to OPEN SITE, it said it
was unaccessible or unavailable or protected with a password

The folder "http://Website" isn't accessible. The folder may be located on
an unavailable

volume or protected with a password.

As an alternative, you may wish to download the FREE Jimco Open Web which
bypasses the web folders, which may be corrupted: www.jimcosoftware.com
