I posted the question on broadbandreports.com, but I haven't been
able to get an answer. Here's a link to the post explaining and
containing a picture of what I'm having a problem with:

You can answer the question there (No registration required) or here.

Thanks

Does it change after you've had your system crash? I'm truly going out on a
limb with this one :) I don't KNOW the answer but this is what I'd try.

Simple thing to try at any rate. Turn it on. Make sure it's working. Do a
nice clean reboot to make sure that your settings are saved. I've found that
if you change a minor setting such as that and then the system crashes
you'll end up with it reverting to it's last known setting because the
system's settings hadn't been saved. My hidden items in the taskbar do that
all the time. If I crash and reboot (or explorer crashes) then they revert
to either always show or to hide when inactive instead of always hidden.
Just an idea at any rate.

Reboot. Sound still there?

This is something that happens every time I reboot. It's just a sound
setting that won't stay set.
