Someone spamming? Abusive?

How do you know there are missing posts? I don't see any missing posts.

(oh, and I don't know what news server you're connecting to, but
news.microsoft.com ought to have everything).

I'm using news.microsoft.com. My NewsReader, XNews, shows 577 unread
posts for this group - An extraordinarily high figure by usual
standards. However, on opening the group only 12 appear. All other MS
groups to which I subscribe generally show the exact number unread as
appear. Only windowsxp.general ever gets near this volume of posts. And
I have checked the numbers shown for each posts. Huge gaps. I can only
assume that MS is deleting a massive quantity of junk from this
particular group. Has anyone been acting pissed off in recent posts?
Maybe now firing off hundreds of abusive messages?

I myself (using the oft derided OE) show 3556 unread posts, but I don't read
'em all regularly in here, nor mark them all as read when I go into the
groups. Just the way I work, and laziness on my part. I don't see any huge
gaps in timestamps, but as I (jokingly) mentioned, I can't see anything I
can't see. :)

Wondering whether it's your XNews config?
