Just Installed IE 8

Just installed IE 8 and I checked in the windows directory and found
IE 7 still in my directory
Microsoft does not clean up the previous version ?
Do I have to get rid of all the IE 7 files

How would you go back to the prior version if and when you choose to
uninstall the latest version? Microsoft lets you uninstall the last
version so, if you don't like it, you can revert to the prior version.
 
No...do not get rid of any files.

What seems illogical to you makes perfect sense to a software developer.
