Whilst going through stuff I put in the loft when we mooved here I found this photo of RM21431 Marine Barwick taken at RM Depot Deal 1962. Where have the years gone?

No1 Dress with boots that took hours to polish?
A fine photo of a young Royal Marines - Commando.
And Deal now closed, all training now at CTCRM.

When I was in we did infantry and Commando training at ITCRM and basic traing, drill and introduction to a rifle which then was the 7.62 FN at Deal

That's a great photo Bootneck, you look extremely smart in your uniform, if I may say so :)

Great Pic! :)

Methinks the armed forces employed a cordwainer trained at the Frankenstein College judging by the size of them boots ;)

In '62 I think I had my first birthday party during which Elvis' 'Rock-A-Hula Baby' was played and all me mates came round our council flat and ate all the ham, bridge rolls and fairy cakes. I wuz 11 :)

brings back memories ... mine was a bit different.

 :thumb:

A very smart & proud young Royal Marines Commando.
And i was not even thought of in 62!!!

Well nivrip and feckit I am fatter, wrinkly and instead of 20/20 vision I now wear glasses as without them I cannot see a thing, but inside I am the same without the energy. Thinking about it I am more proud of my time as a fireman for Kent Fire Brigade (now Kent Fire & Rescue) as that was a job saving lives and just as exciting.
