Just a question that i wondered for a while now, why is there two versions
or messenger? why develop Version 4.7 to 5 when 6 was already out? is it
just because the interface on V6 is that annying?

i know there was Windows messenger, and MSN messenger, but both seemed to be
pretty much the same?

Thanks

Greetings Dave,

Until MSN Messenger 5 and Windows Messenger 4.7, they *were* the same, albeit when you ran
Messenger in Windows XP, it would call itself 'Windows Messenger' and add the extra XP
features.

At this point, MSN Messenger is now centered around MSN technologies (Hotmail, MSN Member
Profiles, MSN
Mobile, etc.) whereas Windows Messenger is now centered around Windows technologies (Exchange
Server, Office Live Communications Server/Greenwich, Windows Netmeeting, etc.).

Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger are now developed by different teams -- and as such why
Windows Messenger is now at 5, and MSN Messenger at 6.
