Junk Mail filter and New Mail icon

Hi,

I've started using Windows Mail, and having checked through some of the
posts on this forum, I see that you can't turn off the New Mail icon in the
tray for when mail that gets filtered into the Junk E-mail folder comes in.

I understand that Windows Mail works on the principle of 'new mail comes in
-> new mail icon generated -> then any rules or filters are applied', but...

It seems a bit silly, unneccesary and annoying to be notified that junk mail
has come in, so does anyone know if Microsoft has any plans to introduce an
update that disables the new mail icon for when new mail that is filtered
into the junk mail folder arrives? It would seem like a logical update,
unless it fundamentally messes with the code of the program.

On this general subject, it would also be nice if mail that is filtered in
the junk mail folder could be automatically marked as read - anyone know if
this is possible?

probably not.
since when mail arrives the new mail icon is turned on, a different process sends it to the junk mail.
since it would take a bit of programming to check and and see if anything else but junk was received, probably ill never take place.
