The quality of my firewire-captured video is great (clear with no blurs, etc..), however, it consistently gets "jumpy" when played. It's "jumpy" in the sense that it appears to be skipping frames, or maybe is just playing some of them too fast or it plays in inconsistent speed. How can I make it play smoother? Have tried turning off preview window during capture (as suggested by MM) but it has not had any smoothing effect. please help

What else are you running at capture? You can temporarily disable antivirus
software or stuff like Seti at Home while capturing or exporting.

Am I right in saying that the captured video on the pc is first great and
then appears to get jumpy as you view it in MM2?
This would indicate that the captured file is ok, but if you are viewing it
in MM2 then it is just teh fact that it shows a preview to show the movie
which is lower res, lower frame rate and if you have lots of transitions etc
will skip frames to give you a real time preview.
If this is the case, when you save the movie back to a dv-avi file on the
hard drive it should play fine in movie maker or the like.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the response but the captured video is already "jumpy" to begin with, even using high quality capture settings.

After some experimenting with various capture settings, Iv'e discovered that video capture is ok on my computer for capture settings starting with "high quality video (small)" and lower. The video becomes "jumpy" when I use video capture settings starting with "high quality video (large)" and higher. When I captured video as DV-AVI, for example, not only was the video jumpy but the audio also became "jumpy or choppy" as well.

But I would like to capture video using settings higher than the "high quality video (small)" setting, which while motion is ok, is not as clear as the higher video capture settings specially when burned and played on my dvd player.

Would really appreciate your help.
