Diana

I've seen this question posted on many boards, but no
answer yet.

My mouse (pointer actually) just started jumping around
like mad a couple of days ago. Have tried
uninstalling/reinstalling...shutting down...sys.
restoring...you name it.

Been running XP since last October, but this is the first
sign of trouble. Haven't installed any new hardware since
Christmas. Seems as if it just came out of the blue.

Did a virus-scan, too...nothing.

Does anyone have a clue??

Thanks...Diana

Diana,
Have you tried looking in the mouse properties of the Control Panel, and
making sure your mouse isn't accidentally ticked to "Snap to default"?

If it's an optical mouse, try a different mousepad. I
had a shiny one that was reflecting back up into the
mouse - and it went CRAZY!

Thanks for all the replies :-) Yes, I had checked my
mouse properties...everything was fine...cleaned the
optical eye...dusted down the mouse pad...even tried a
different mouse.

I still have no idea exactly what the problem was, but I
restored back to the earliest point possible...ran virus
scan again, ran AdAware. Read something on the net that
maybe our graphics tablet (which has a wireless mouse) may
be conflicting with the main mouse...unhooked the graphics
tablet for now. Did Windows Update.

Is working fine again...hope it stays that way!
