jumping from hyperlink, back to where I started

If I am in a document and go to a hyperlink, when I hit the " back" arrow or alt-left arrow, it does not take me back to where I started. It jumps sometimes to a link I was at three links ago or to the top of the document?
 
The bottom line is that it does not return me to where I started. This works fine in Word 2002
 
What version are you using where it's not working?
