My computer jumps backwards on most applications. I thought it was internet
explorer, but it happens even when I'm using Word. It acts as though I
clicked on another area with the mouse when I didn't...most of the time I am
not even touching the mouse. Any ideas??

Laptop with a touchpad? Disable it because your palm is probably hitting it.
Desktop with a mouse? Try a different mouse. If you are using a wireless
mouse, replace its batteries.

For more specific help, please provide more details about your computer.

As in...

"But I didn't change anything!!!"

"Then put it back to the way it was before you didn't change anything."

:-)

I agree with Malke. You're using a laptop with a touchpad, aren't you?

They're a bloody nuisance, and this strange jumping of the insertion point
is absolutely typical when typing on your laptop keyboard.

Using a separate keyboard will avoid the problem, as we'll as Malke's
suggestion of disabling the touchpad.

That's a good one (and quite true, too)! Thanks for the laugh, Tom. :-)
