I was given an Imagine computer with a P120 CPU by a friend and have set it
up as a 3rd computer (XPPro, 2000Pro,and Win 98SE) on a home LAN. All works
great.

However back in my closet was an old MB which had a P133 CPU. I decided that
a little more speed would help and installed it in the Socket 7 slot. Upon
booting it up I found that the CPU speed remained the same. I thought that
the BIOS would immediately read the faster CPU. However, there appears to be
a CPU jumper located near the CPU which I assume to be the multiplier. There
are 3 pins. The jumper presently covers pins 2 and 3.What is the correct
setting in order to read a P133?

Ron

Hopefully the jumper is for 60 or 66 MHz buss
speeds. The 120's ran at 2x66 while the 133s ran at 2x66.
If you're daring move it to 1-2. If you're not, supply us
with the make and model of your computer or motherboard
and perhaps you will get more help. Imagine is not a
major computer player so the mobo is probably your best bet.

Well the Award site identifies your board as made by FIC
from the 2A5L9F09C part. Can you perhaps find some sort of part number
on the mobo, then go to the FIC site?

ftp://ftp.fic.com.tw/motherboard/cpu_table/other/1.pdf
The above does list all 3 as compatible with both CPU's.
This is actually a socket 5 mobo I assume.
Does it look like this

Or manual for PA2001 is here;
http://www.motherboards.org/manuals/p/FIC-PA-2001/1310.html
However this site says you have a PA-2002; Scroll down and check
the BIOS ID of 2A5L9F09C;

PA-2002 Manual here;

FIC/PA2002/fic_pa2002_users_manual_download.htm

Sorry about the missing link, it's not that useful
anyway. The layouts are the ruling item.

Pen,

Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction for a solution to my
problem.

The board appears to be an FIC PA2001. According to the manual, jumpers JK1
and JK2 located near the CPU are reversed in order to change the external
clock to 133. It took all of a few seconds to do this. Now, going from
120mhz to 133mhz does not represent a huge difference but I do notice the
change.

Anyway this is my first venture into changing MB jumpers and again thanks.

Ron

You're welcome, glad to help.
