When trying to open Help and Support site for H.P. I get the following error:

Microsoft Internet Explorer
JScript Error - Object doesn't support this property or method.

I am useing I.E. 6.0 with all latest updates such as SP etc.

Could someone please tell me what the problem is and how I can solve it.

The sight sill finally pull up but can't execute anything on the site. I
click on an option on the site and nothing happens....

Thanks

Forgot to mention: I have latest vs of Java vs 1.5.0_06
and have run all the regsvr32 .dll that have been referenced earlier and
all of them say they are set complete.

After I did this I rechecked for the JScript error and it still gives me
this error: Object does not support this property or method.

Java has nothing to do with JavaScript.

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):

I can't access your reply. When I click on your reply to pull it up in
another window all I get is my original message but can't scroll down to your
answer. I have no scroll bar on the right side of window at all. I have tried
everything I know and unable to do this. I used to be able to read replies
but now I can't.

Please answer me via my e-mail so I can read it as I can't access the
answers via forum.
(e-mail address removed).

Thanks

Frank, I have been able to view your answer now. I have not done all that you
advised me to yet but am working on it. I will do it and then reply back to
let you know if this fixed problem.

Thanks
Tom

Robert and or Frank:
Please see my prior answer to Frank where I told him that I could not
scroll down in the answer window. I got it to work one time (don't ask me
how) BUT now I can't scroll down in the answer window in order to read the
answer. All I can view is the small part and then the words go out into the
right hand margin of that window and there is no scroll down arrows that will
enable me to read the entire message.

Can either of you (or anyone else for that matter that might view this)
advise me what is wrong and how to correct this problem in the answer window.

Thanks
Tom

Hello Maurice. Had no idea you were connected with this newsgroup. I am
dealing with you in AumHa.

This is a Brand HP computer Pavilion 7975 but not new. I have had it for 4
or 5 years.

The Instand Help through Start/ Help and Support used to work but for some
time now I have had the JScript error.

I posted all the logs you wanted in AumHa and did everything you suggested.

I am awaiting your reply in AumHa.

Instead of opening each message in the thread separately
try opening the whole thread in one window by doubleclicking
on one of its items. Actually I think doubleclicking even works
on the title of a contracted thread too. That should give you more room
for rendering the thread, especially if you press F11 and view
it in Fullscreen mode. Try scrolling that window using either
the PageDown key or the Spacebar on your keyboard; that should
work even if you still don't see a scrollbar on that window.

As to why you wouldn't see a scrollbar on those it may be due
to your Display Settings DPI setting. To see it go to your Desktop,
right-click Properties, Settings tab, Advanced button.
(alternate keystrokes: press Win-D, Menu-r, Backtab, Alt-v)
If you don't have the normal DPI setting of 96 you might want to try
changing to that and see if it helps make scroll bars appear again.

All I can view is the small part and then the words go out into the
right hand margin of that window and there is no scroll down arrows that will
enable me to read the entire message.

I think that those could be symptoms of an incompatible DPI setting.

Here is some additional info:

<title>Windows XP and Windows 2000 do not natively support high-DPI screens</title>
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;EN-US;Q820286

(MSN search for
"internet explorer" DPI site:support.microsoft.com
)

Can either of you (or anyone else for that matter that might view this)
advise me what is wrong and how to correct this problem in the answer window.

Thanks
Tom

BTW I may have a suggestion for your original problem too
but let's see if we can get you reading all the replies first. <w>

Good luck

Robert, I have this solved. I set resolution in display settings to view a
smaller text and it displays all of the contents of the screen as well as
scroll bars.

By the way my property settings advanced is set to 96.

It may help if you identified this "site" more clearly.
In some contexts it sounds as if it is really a local app
in which case the error may be due to security settings.
E.g. in Options Advanced tab you could try checking

Allow active content to run in files from My Computer

Note: I suggest you try toggling that on only use the app
and then toggle it off afterwards. If you left it set on permanently
you would be less protected from inadvertently running malware.

Good luck

Robert, this is Help and Support application that came installed on my HP
computer when I bought it.

I will try to disable this option and see if it works. Then I will disable it.

Disable the option to allow download of Active X and it did not correct the
problem. Still get the JScript Error.

Thus I unclicked this option and rebooted.
