Win xp pro sp2

When opening a jpg file widows picture and fax viewer:

- and the file is on the desktop, it takes 7-9 seconds to open

- and the file is in the "my documents" folder or subfolder, the file takes
less than 1 second to open.

Why is this? Can it be fixed?

Thank you,

Clem.

Correction:

The second line should read:

When opening a jpg file with windows picture and fax viewer:

+++

Sorry!

Hi Clem,

I've seen this behavior if there is a network drive / UNC shortcut on the Desktop. If so, see if deleting (or move to another folder) those shortcuts help.
