JPG Files and Windows Explorer

I have been fighting with Windows Explorer crashing ever
since I started filling directories with .jpg files.
This is the only type of file that crashes me when
accessing. I thought I had isolated to specific files,
but this is not the case. It's hit and miss.

Tonight I created a brand new directory and saved 5 newly
created .jpg files to the directory. It seemed to work
for a while and I could preview, access, open, and view.
After a short time, reviewing the directory again
produced error and failure messages.

I can easily replicate the problem. Any ideas?

Do you happen to have Adobe PhotoShop or
Elements installed?

If you do...right click on a .jpg file and choose
Properties. Click the Photoshop Image tab
and uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button,
then click OK.

My system developed the same problem yesterday. I get the
error message

RUNTIME ERROR
VISUAL C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY
ABNORMAL PROGRAM TERMINATION

This happens whenever I try to vue JPG files in Explorer
Thumbnails (Or any graphics program suchas Photoshop) All
is OK in List or Detail views.

I had the same problem too, and I just formated my
computer one week ago. My windows should be
clean.....this problem is really pissing me offffff!!!!!

Yep, exactly the same problem here too! I ran a clean
install of XP, and ever since I have had problems in
opening up folders that have jpg files in them. The
problem occurs when there are several jpg files in the
folder, and thumbnailing is enabled in that folder.

I open the folder, Explorer goes blank, and Explorer
reloads itself again ... minus my opened folder! It's a
real pain, because I can't even get into the folder to
change the view-type to "list" or "details" - the only two
view-modes that aren't affected by this problem.

Any suggestions?
