.JPG File Icons

Hi:

Somehow the standard Microsoft icon for all my .jpg files has changed to another icon. I have no idea what caused this change in this .jpg icon appearance.

Does anyone know how I can change it back to I assume the Default setting for icons applicable .jpg files?

..jpg has been 'associated' to a different program than what it was...

go to windows explorer,
Tools
Folder options
file types
find jpg files
change the program in Opens With area inthe middle of the screen.

Hi,
The problem You have here is usually caused by installing
a new graphics app which associates itself to certain
file types these can usually be un associated in the
program preferences ,
You can open windows Explorer >tools>folder options>file
types : find .jpg click on it goto advanced and some file
types allow you to change the icon here.

The painter is right, It may be caused because of installing some image editing or graphic design software.

You can change it by the ways specified by mike and the painter, but try this one this is the same procedure expressed in an easy way!

If you are using win XP right click on any jpeg file and go to open with in the pop-up menu and choose the program you want to open with!

I will suggest you to use the default windows program such as windows picture viewer or paint.

I have no option to change the icon, only the app associated with the jpgs

I would really like to change only the icon for jpgs.. any other reg hacks,
maybe?
 
Hi,

Download and install TweakUI for XP.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2
a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Run it by double clicking the TweakUI icon in the control panel, or click
start>all programs>power toys for Xp> Tweak UI

Choose the last option..Repair, and choose the option repair icons
