Everytime I try to open a file containing jpeg files, the
program closes. Sometimes I'll get a memory read or write
message, but usually it just closes the program I'm using
(usually PhotoShop Elements). I can open the files on
other computers using XP, ME, W98. Any suggestions?
 
I am having a similar problem. I can no longer open JPEG
files from my digital camera. A week ago I was able to.
The files open in MS product but just hang Photoshop 7.0.1
on XP professional. JPEG files that were previously
changed in Photoshop open fine. What is going on?
 
Try this...right click on a .jpg file and choose
Properties. Click the Photoshop Image tab
and uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button,
then click OK.

my guess would be not enough memory.
