Jpegs changed to .ink files

I have Googled this problem but haven't found a solution.

Someone has tried to send me jpegs as an OE attachment but they arrive as
..ink files.

Is he doing sometthing wrong or is my PC?

Any help gratefully appreciated by this non-techie.

LNK files are shortcuts to the files. He needs to go to the actual
files and mail them.
