Joystick connector / Gigabyte 8IPE1000

This motherboard was not supplied with any MIDI/Joystick cable, although it
does have a connector in which to connect one (ribbon cable type to a
D-type). I went through my spares bin and found a straight cable which I
plugged in. Of course this didn't work. I checked the pin-out of the mobo
with another joystick port reference, and it would seem that the mobo has
completely the wrong pin-out to be able to use a straight ribbon-to-D cable.
Is this a known issue with this mobo? I've had no luck emailing either
Gigabyte or my supplier.

I have the official GBT ones and yes, you're right, they're not wired one to
one.
Mobo header is standard 16 way IDC with pin 16 blocked off (key). The wires
to the 15 way D connector are in the following order:

Wire 1 to pin 1
2 to 3
3 to 5 also connected to the shell
4 to 7
5 to 9
6 to 11
7 to 13
8 to 15
9 to 2
10 to 4
11 to 6
12 to 8
13 to 10
14 to 12
15 to 14

I suspect it was meant to be straight through wiring but the designer made
an error in pin numbering. We use industrial PC boards made by Aaeon of
Taiwan and they also frequently number IDC pins incorrectly.
