I was working with the Outlook Journal. Entered some
information. Then, tried to create a new view. It worked
ok. Then, I created another view and all of a sudden this
error message appeared:
Unable to display the folder. Operation failed

I closed Outlook and started it again.
When choosing the Journal folder the same error appears.
Can anyone help me recover my working views and the data
entered into the journal?

Thanks,
Gabriel

If you click on the Journal folder (even if you get the error), are you able
to get into View | Current View | Define Views? If so, try deleting any
custom views listed and resetting all the default views, and see if that
helps.

Thanks for the answer but unfortunatelly I get a reduced
menu of top. I get the error and no option to change
Views.

On the View menu there's only GoTo / Outlook bar / Folder
List / Toolbars / Status bar

The top menu only reads:
File | Edit | View | Favorites | Tools | Help

What you suggest was the first thing I tried to look for,
but as I could not find a way to get to the views I
posted this question.

Just for information, I can see the emails, contacts and
calendar entries with no problems. But nothing on the
Journal. I found it useful and entered all the tracking
information. Now I don't know where that info has gone.

I tried to create another view to make it easy to divide
on time spent on different Companies.

What should I do now? Thanks for your time,
Gabriel

In that case, try running the Inbox Repair Tool against your .PSt file to
see if it finds any errors. Search your drive for a file called scanpst.exe
and run it.

Jocelyn,
I ran the Inbox Repair Tool. It said it found a minor
inconsistency. I asked it to repair the .pst file. When
it finished I started Outlook, but the Journal folder is
still with the same error message and no menu options to
change view.

Should I reinstall Outlook? Is there anything I have to
keep? Will it keep my Notes/Tasks/Inbox/Calendar/Contacts?
I also ran the option under Help menu: Detect and Repair...
But nothing.

If reinstalling is the only resource I need to make sure
I won't lose the information that is already available.
Will I ever be able to recover the Journal info?

Thanks for your help,
Gabriel
PS: FYI, the log file for the scanpst.exe says:

One other thing you can try before you do anything more drastic: Try
starting Outlook once with the /CleanViews switch. All custom views in all
your folders will be deleted and the default views restored, but you should
not lose any data. Make a backup of your .PST file beforehand, just in case
of any glitches. If you need help using Outlook command line switches (like
/CleanViews), look here:
