Hello Jonathon, I still can't use Windows messenger to send files. I updated my firmware on my Linksys cable/dsl router and activated UPnP as you suggested with no luck. I also upgraded to the latest version of Windows Messenger and still nothing. I received a message that a firewall may be blocking the connection but in the past, this was not an issue. The problem seems to have started when I installed my router.

Any more suggestions would certainly be appreciate

Ozzie

Greetings Ozzie,

Two things -- there are two "latest versions" of Windows Messenger. There's a latest version
of Windows Messenger 4.7 (4.7.2009) which does *not* have support for UPnP (and this is
what's on the Windows Messenger main website), and Windows Messenger 5.0 (which is only
available from the Microsoft Download Center). Assuming you did install Windows Messenger 5,
you might still have the Internet Connection Firewall engaged which will also block
transfers. To turn it off, click Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then
Communications and then Network Connections. Right click your network/internet connection,
then click Properties. Click the Advanced Tab, and verify that the Internet Connection
Firewall is unchecked.
