BlankJonathan,

I've got the messenger shut off under services but I'm still getting
something that is titled "Specifc-POP Network Ad". Do you have any idea
where those are coming from or how to shut them down?

Thanks,
Mark

Greetings Mark,

What you're seeing are actually Internet Explorer pop-up advertisements, there's a few things
you can do about this.

Firstly, you'll want to scan your computer for "spyware" (that is, applications which sole
purpose is to deliver ads or monitor your behavior on your PC). You can do so with one of
the following tools (I would suggest using both, just to be sure):
Spybot:
http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=download (scroll down to the bottom)
Adaware:

Secondly, to stop pop-ups while browsing, you might utilize a pop-up blocker, like the one in
the Google Toolbar (free):

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks...I actually do all three of those. Everytime I run Spybot &
Adaware, it seems to be removing the same cookies. Would that be because
I'm going to the same sites all the time?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Yes, the cookies really aren't that critical (I usually leave them) -- it's just the rogue
apps you should be after.

Not quite sure why you would be seeing these ads if you already seem to have those types of
pop-ups blocked...
