Can Vista Join an exisisting NT4.0 Domain controller?
I tried but i am getting unknow username or passwod error.
If anyone know, help me
thanks

Nanda,

Yes it can, but I would imagine its not fully supported. To do so you do
have to do some work. You must change "NTLMv2 only" in LAN Manager
authentication level to "Send NTLM only" or below on Windows Vista side, and
Create its machine account with Server Manager first on Windows NT side.
Kinda a kludge, but it works.

I would highly recommend upgrading the NT domains as soon as possible as
they are no longer supported by Microsoft.

I remember I did it a while back while running one of the betas. I seem to
recall, that I did it the old-fashioned way, setting the control panel to
classic mode, then opening the 'system' icon, then used the 'computer name'
tab and choose the 'change' button to join the domain, just like in Windows
XP.

Things may have changed by the time Vista reached the final version.

Glad I could help Nanda, my company too is still getting rid of NT 4.0. I
feel your pain believe me.
Only a few more weeks of NT 4.0 left then its going to be a fine Native 2003
Domain and I can breathe better.
