Have a small Win 2k Server/Pro network.
Using active directory, everything works OK.
1 2k Pro machine will, not logon to network.
Network connection is OK, data passes both ways.
NO network settings have changed on either 2K PC or
Server.
Trying to rename PC & reconnect from scratch, no luck.
Get error message regarding DNS.
Can I reset the 2K machine as if it's never been
connected to the domain & how.

Any suggestions?
thanks

your DNS settings on your server / client must point to your internal DNS
server. This is how clients locate DC's on your network. What error do you
get when logging on to the network ?

The rule of thumb with AD and DNS: Only use the internal DNS on all your AD
machines (DCs and clients). In your DNS, recommended to configure a
forwarder to your ISP for efficient Inernet resolution. Do not use your
router as a DNS server as well.

If not following this rule, then numerous errors WILL occur. AD asks DNS for
everything. If the ISP's in IP properties, then it will go south...

There are other issues involved here as well, such as SRV records missing,
single label domain name (bad), and others. Let us know if your config is ok
as above and still having trouble by posting an ipconfig /all from a DC and
a client, and let us know what the AD DNS domain name should be, and how the
zone name in AD is spelled.

Hope that helps.
