Joining a Domain - not happening!

I have a PC running xp sp2. It has been connected to and part of a domain on
a server running win2k server. Just of late it has been disconnecting from
the network at times and now it has disconnected completely. I am not
disconnected completely. I can still use internet and receive email and even
log on to the server via remote desktop connection. So all cables etc ... are
fine. It just seems that I am no longer allowed to access the domain/active
directory. I get messages like the network resource you are trying to use is
already in use ...
Any ideas on how to reconnect to the domain?

The first thing to check is DNS settings on the problem PC. In an Active
Directory environment you should have your client PCs checking only the AD
DNS server(s) for name resolution, and the AD DNS server should be
forwarding or resolving any request that goes outside the domain.

Yes the PC is set to check only the AD DNS server, and the server is
configured with forwarders to enable surfing the net etc.. What seems strange
to me is that for example it was working perfectly yesterday afternoon and
when I came in this morning it wasn't ?!? I have run virus checker etc and
found nothing.
The message I get is that there is no domain controller available to log on.
By the way there are about 10 other pc's all set up the same which are
working fine.

Can you ping your AD servers by name? By IP address?
