join Windows2000 AD with Windows 2003 subdomain (during upgrade from NT4)

Hi,

currently there is one Windows 2000 based Active Directory and two NT4 based
NT4 domains. Now we want to upgrage the NT4 domain and join the existing
Active Directory as a subdomain. Means, upgrade the NT4 PDC with the Windows
2003 Server CD and during this process we want to join the Windows 2000
based Active Directory.
Could I join the Windows 2000 based AD with upgrading the NT4 domain to
Windows 2003 ? Any problems ? Is it possible that the subdomain relies on
Windows 2003 and the "parent" Active directory is Windows 2000 based ?

before being able to add w2k3 DCs to the AD 2000 forest you must make sure
the schema has been extended with w2k3 schema updates
