join lines are missing

I have searched the internet and the forums for MS Access and find no answer.
When designing a query, my join lines are missing. I enabled join lines but
even in a new query none are present. If I copy and paste to SQL view, the
join lines appear in the query.

Thank you in advance for help with this issue.

Not quite sure what you're describing.

Are you saying that you go to create a new query, select two or more queries
to use in that query and once you've added the tables there are no join
lines between them? Have you defined relationships? Unless you have, Access
won't automatically create the lines for you.

This is true 99% of the time. Every once an a while if the two
tables have the field name ID access may create the lines. Typically,
this wil NOT be correct and you have to delete them.

But as Douge says, if you have not defined a relationship you have the
ability, requirement, and responsibility of creating the correct join
lines.

Doug and Ron,
Thank you both for your replies. There is a defined relationship (on an ID
field), but the join lines never appear when making a new query that includes
two queries from the show table that are related. I have checked and saved,
then unchecked and saved the "enable join lines" box but this has not helped.
If I am sent a SQL statement and paste it into SQL view, then change to
design view, the join lines are present.
