JimL does live alone, neither is nor knows jw, was into computers when the
term "PC" was first invented and has many years of experience, some good -
some bad, with Usenet. He is not greatly accomplished at anything, being
pretty much a jack-of-all-trades - master of none. He was once studying
both computer science and computer engineering in college, but had a stroke
and lost virtually all his math ability and much of his formerly superior
memory.
His "sudden" appearance here (actually been here for years) arose out of the
experience of moving from dial-up to broadband for the first time. He
knows an elitist when he sees one and has been known to lose his cool when
around one. His attitude toward trolls is mixed. He knows you can't match
wits with the witless, but he sometimes sees great humor in the foolishness
of forcefully and irreversibly expressed opinions exhibiting more knowledge
than there is in existence. He can be a bit enigmatic, but if you shoot
straight with him he'll shoot straight with you.
