Found a remedy for jetfighteriv jimmy, thanks for your info but i found
additional solutions, first don't install games on xp to c:/program
files/game,make a directory to c:/games/games so its sepperate from your
program files if you have to tweak it,then go into the config file and change
the line that reads simuserthread=1 to read simuserthread=0,then configure
your three files,jf4,jf4sim,and videosetup.Configure them only to disable
visual effects, windows 95 configuration. Then go to task manager and end tasks
on all backround programs, because otherwise you get a ddr_surfacelost
error. Also used your advice on dos games, dosbox, vdm sound etc,but thats where
you have to make sure you have your games in a seperate directory of their
own also so you can put dosbox and vdm to use.Still working on quake and halo
though,i tried everything you suggested in your thread. What did you mean by a
32 bit and 16 bit error and is there a solution.I tried recopying my system
32 off my resource cd to no avail. Is there a windows site , program or
fix?thanks!

Hi stevetush,

If you weren't able to run the game after installing it to the directory:
Program Files yet were able to run it after installing it to the directory:
games, most likely DOS long filename limitation was the root cause.

You would need to refer to C:\Program Files as C:\Proga~1

HI jimmy.so far i've updated xp,repaired system32 files off the xp cd,disc
cleaned,defragged,updated my sound driver(soundmax integrated driver,no
card)updated video driver(intel extreme graphics,no video card).what i'm
getting is an invalid system 32 right away soon as i hit install on halo and
quake4.What i want to know is what the heck do'es system 32 have to do with a
non dos,non 16 bit game thats a fairly new release?i had my anti
virus, firewall, spyware all shut off during download. Can you help me,cause it
took forever to download on dial up.Do you think it could be the speed of my
connection? It only happened with these two demos. Thanks, hope your hard disc
does'nt go limp again HA HA.

Hi stevetush,

Not a Valid Win32 Application Errors can occur if your game's installation
is damaged or corrupt.. The first step would be to redownload the game.

I suggest downloading it from a friends PC with a high speed connection,
and then burning it to a CD to install it on your PC once you get home.

Halo is a 32bit application as are most Windows XP installations, so that
type of error message can only mean the download is corrupt.
