Hello

With MS Access 2002 (10.4302.4219) SP-2 and an opened Access2002
Format file, I can't import a fixed width text data file into a DB.

Every time I try, I receive the error message

"the microsoft jet database engine could not find the object ". Make
sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name
correctly"

and then another window saying

"An error occured trying to import file '......filename.txt' The file
was not imported."

Any idea ?

Best regards.

I'm not sure what you mean by "an opened Access 2002 Format file".

If you create a new fixed with data file and give it a new name, can you
open an Access .mdb file and import that one?

Jeff,

I rememer doing this years ago when working on MSAccess95. I used to
create a database and import into this database my text data with
fixed field width.

Now, after I create a new database and do
FILE -> GET_EXTERNAL_DATA -> IMPORT
, select the text file and follow the screen, I end up with the
mentioned error message.

Regards.

I haven't run across that before. Have you checked Google.com with the
error message?
