I'm using Access 2003. I opened a new database &
attempted to import a 1900 byte fixed length text file
with 148 fields. I saved the file import spec as it took
me about 2 hours to type it. It seems to work fine until
the last step when I receive the following error:
The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the
object ".
That's right - it doesn't even give me an object name.
What does this mean?
The text file to be imported is named with the 8.3 DOS
convention and a .txt extension.
I have Jet 4.0 svc pack 8 installed.
I've tried repair/compact db - same result.
I've tried opening a new db & importing the file spec
alone - same result.
Importing the txt file without a file spec works fine,
except of course the data is not fielded correctly.
Any direction?
TIA,
Andy
