hey there
so im running the beta 2 but its very jerky... i mean every 3mins or so it
will freeze but only briefly for anywhere from 1 second to 1minuite.
this is becuse i need more ram? or better cup? or video card?
i have a p4, 512 ram but only a 64MB video card, i do plan on getting a
128MB soon
thanks for you help

More memory and a better video card should help, what speed processor. Have
you checked the event log to see if the system is reporting a problem with a
device?

thanks for the reply stephen

i have a p4 2.40 GHz would u think thats good enough?
and how do i check event log, althogh its not generating an error, just
being sluggish

thanks

I'm Running vista on my P4 1.7 laptop with 40 gb harddisk and 512mb haven't
had a hang up.
Also runnig it on a AMD 3500+ 64 with 2gb ram and 250 gb hard disk with 256
mb video.
Sure the version on my amd runs faster but still it running very wel on the
laptop.
Don't expect to use every visual setting and fast performance but with a
little puzzling you can run it on a minium system.

yeah i think i can put most of the jerkyness down the the video card
i found a radeon 9200 128MB card i forgot i even had. i put it in the pc and
performance improved a little (not much) but still no fancy windows aero /
glass

so im thinking of getting ATI x1600 256MB..

I have seen cards prior to 9500 running Aero fine. As long as the card
supports 3D rendering and DirectX 9 it should work with a proper WDDM
driver.

thanks colin!

... on here... http://www.ati.com/technology/windowsvista/Products.html
it says that those cards " offer the ultimate visual experience with Windows
Vistaâ?¢ and the Windows Aeroâ?¢ 3D-desktop"
doesnt that mean they support glass too?

It says that "ATI offers..." and not necessarily that all ATI cards
offer Aero Glass.

The cards listed on

<http://www.ati.com/technology/windowsvista/Products.html>

are either in red, i.e. they support Vista with Aero Glass,

or in grey, i.e. they support Vista with Aero Basic,

because for Glass you need a card with 128 MB VRAM and DirectX 9.0 and
Shader Model 2, and a WDDM driver, see
