"Jerky" video in viewing pane.

I have edited about 60 clips by mostly spliting the clips at both ends and
using the middle. When viewing the results on the viewing pane the movement
is very "jerky". I have defragmented and used disk clean up. The windows
task manager indicates the CPU usage is only 1% to 2%. I have used 20GB of
my 60 GB D drive. The video plays "smooth" for about the first 5 minutes but
gets "jerky" during the last 5 minutes. All of the clips are DV-AVI. Also
when calling up the clips that are in the collections pane, they are very
slow to show up as they "come in" from top to bottom. Any idea what the
problem might be?
Thanks for your help

And...have you tried saving in a movie
format .wmv or .avi and playing the movie
in Windows Media Player? It may play
better than it does in Movie Maker.

When working in Movie Maker it's a good
idea to disconnect from the net, close all
programs especially virus scanners and
do not multi-task while trying to save a
video file. Even playing solitaire can
use resources that Movie Maker needs.
