Jeffrey Tan, Peter Huang, Yan-Hong Huang "quoting" question

Did you notice that the replies from the three people mentioned here include
the entire header of the newsgroup message. This is fairly "atypical" and I
guess there must a switch somewhere or they are using an odd newsreader...

Would you guys check your settings... the entire Path is printed, even the
Newsreader is included.

Just a thought: The content can be processed better when inserting the
headers into the body for further processing because this is a "managed"
group. (but I'm also interested in the real reason)

Tom,
The "odd newsreader" I believe is known as Microsoft Exchange Server.

If you notice all the individuals are Microsoft Employees (on the support
staff).

I believe they are using Public Folders in Exchange Server to read & respond
to the messages, hence the extra headers are included.

The above is personal opinion and may have no bearing on reality!

I am certain that it is my theory! ;-)

However it is only a theory, actually it may only be a hypothesis, either
way its conjecture.

I do know that there is an NNTP gateway that allows Exchange Server to map
newsgroups to Public Folders in Exchange Server. I do not use Exchange
Server, so I've never used the Gateway. Whether All, Some, or None of MS
support actually uses this or not I do not know.

It sounded like a good theory, so I offered it.

That could be the case... still I wish they could turn off that feature or
trim out the extra lines. Somewhat interesting is that none of them have
responded to a thread with their names in the title. I would have to look
at it if it was my name :-)

I asked if you did look it up yourself, you has to know now that when I ask
things like this, it I almost always have checked it myself all minimum 5
times.

It is definitly not the same as with the other ones, so do we get an answer
or again an empty link.

Take a look at a messeges from Jeffrey and from John Eikenlander, that you
see the difference,
scroll it down till the end. Like Tom I don't like the way Jeffrey, Peter
and Yan. Of course it is not a big deal, but when you say something about
someone's quoting, than this is much worser than you ever saw by someone
else and you should react to them like you did to others.
